How to make basic materials ‘sabi’ ‘mugi-urushi’ ‘kokuso’ ‘tame-urushi’ ‘bengara-urushi’ ‘abura tonoko’

 

By adding α to‘urushi’ basic lacquer, the properties of the lacquer changes and is converted into materials for shaping, filling and adhesive.

 

  1. How to make ‛sabi'… for filling small chipped areas.

  Materials: 'tonoko'+ water + basic lacquer

  Quantity                      1:1(volume ratio)

Drying time : 1 day

ⅰ)Place on top of the glass plate. Break it into the size of a bean, add water with a pipette. 

  Let it sit for 2-3 minutes, when the water is well absorbed, blend it with a spatula until it feels like the texture of a thick

ⅱ)toothpaste. If it is too wet, cover it with a piece of tissue paper for 2-3 minutes and blend it again.

ⅲ)Place basic lacquer next to the water mixture. The ratio of basic lacquer and the water mixture is 1:1 according to its volume.

ⅳ)Mix the basic lacquer into the water mixture little by little in 3 times, mix it until it is evenly blended in. is done when the mixture

2.How to make'mugi-urushi' … for sticking broken pieces.

Materials: flour + basic lacquer

Quantity     1:1(volume ratio)

Drying time : 2-3 weeks

ⅰ)Mix basic lacquer with flour, blend well. It is done when the mixture becomes like the texture of gum.

3.How to make 'kokuso'… for big chipped area or lost pieces.

Materials: 'mugi-urushi'+ sawdust

Quantity     1:2(volume ratio)

Drying time : 1-2 months

Mix mugi-urushi with sawdust until it becomes sticky and thick.

4.How to make 'tama-urushi' … lacquer for painting.

Material: basic lacquer

This process is called .

ⅰ)Place a small amount of basic lacquer on top of the glass plate.

ⅱ)Blend it with a spatula for 10-15 minutes. is done when it becomes thick and dark brown in colour.

 

 

 

5.How to make 'bengara-urushi' … red lacquer for painting.

Mateirals: tama-urushi + bengara(red pigment)

Quantity                1:1(volume ratio)

ⅰ)Place a small amount of on top of the glass plate.

ⅱ)Take out an amount of according to the ratio.

ⅲ)Mix the into the little by little in 3 times, blend it well for 10-15 minutes and is done.

 

6.How to make 'abura-tonoko' … to polish powder.

Materials :tonoko + oil

Quantity as much as suffices

ⅰ)Place a small amount of on top of the glass plate.

ⅱ)Place a small amount of oil next to .

ⅲ)Mix the oil into the little by little until it becomes like the texture of a thick tooth paste.
